A note from Amy…

(Some of you have emailed with questions about why Vince and Amy recently pulled out of the James Taylor concert at Carnegie Hall schedule for April 20th.  I thought it best you hear directly from Amy….)

My mom is currently under hospice care and living at our home.

We believe she is in her final days.

A good death is made possible because of a life well lived.

I so appreciate this time of family togetherness honoring my amazing mother.

Prayers are welcome…

My prayers are with you as you spend this time with your mom. Gods’ grace will get us through anything and the passing will be peaceful as she is a child of God. May she go in grace and love and meet Jesus with a smile.
Soon she will be singing with the angels.

    Amy & Family,

This is the ending phrases from a poem “The Parable of the Mother”

“And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and the years, and the mother grew old, and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong and walked with courage. And when the way was rough they lifted her, for she was as light as a feather;and at last they came to a hill, and beyond the hill they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide.
And the mother said, “I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know that the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk alone, and their children after them.”
And the children said, “You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates.”

God bless you all while you celebrate your mother’s life and await for her to go home.

I will give you a copy of the entire Parable the next time we meet. It is sweet.

    God bless.

    Kathy Fletcher

Amy, my prayers are with you. I’ve experienced hospice and have seen life leave the body. I realized that our bodies are but a shell of the bodies that we will have with our Savior in heaven. Though my heart grieved, my spirit rejoiced at the jubiliation my friend must have been experiencing when she woke up in heaven.

Amy, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your beautiful family. Just remember to hold all the memories and treasures in your heart, God will get you through this. <3

  • Mary

Went through this in 2009, Amy, and know what you’re going through. My heart goes out to you and my thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless….

    Hi Amy and Vince,
I understand how you and your family are feeling as my mum past away 4 weeks ago, from many years of severe illness. It was difficult for me to come to process her final days, as I am used to her just waking up.
Cheekily, I would almost say to listen to Amy Grant Records to help you through this time, I know it strengthened me , to know the lord is with her and (selfishly) me.
My prayers are with you and your family. Love from Remco and my family

What a precious life lesson you are teaching your children. We are a society who discards our aging too quickly. Your example of unqualified love without boundaries is priceless. Absolutely priceless.

I am saddened to hear this news, and I will remember you and all of your family in my prayers as we enter Holy Week / Triduum and celebrate Easter. God will lift you up and sustain you no matter what the circumstance may be with your Mom. It was mentioned earlier that we the fans feel like another part of the “family”……..and as such your loss would also be ours.

… yes pray to the Lord do not let it suffer, and it is done in good, pleasing and perfect will of God …
“I know that life will end soon.
Know that nothing was in vain.
    If I suffered, fought, cried,
    If I could, I lost, I thought
And what I felt … all gone.
    It now rather be
Along with whom, by whom I lived,
Along with Thee, my Lord. ”
    (as light)
    God be with you always.

Amy 1984 at Lowry Air Force Base El Shadai gave me great strength. Thank you so much. Before meeting my wife the spiritual intimacy in your music was also used by God to water her spirit too. May the love of Jesus Christ surround you all now like a sweet aroma reaching deep penetrating lost areas to glorify God, amen.

Amy, this news immediately brought tears to my eyes. I lost my mom a couple of years ago and i recalled how, in her final days under Hospice care, i flooded her room with Amy Grant songs :). Her favorite was from Legacy – ‘it is well with my soul’. I know these times are both sad and yet somehow filled with numerous graces … Our Lord is very close to you and your family in these moments. May He fill you and your dear mother with comfort and grace at each turn. I will keep you, your mom and your entire family in my prayers. Love, mary

This is such a personal, precious time for you and your family. I pray that there would be a time of singing and praising God for the wonderful time you have had with your Mother. I know this is a bittersweet time, but I pray that you and your family would feel the Father’s love and comfort during this time, and that there would be peace within. There will be, in my friend’s words, “sadness here, fanfare there.”

    In His Hands,

    Jamey Brasfield

My heart and prayers go out to you, your Sisters, and each of your families. I pray that this time with your parents is a sweet, precious time of reflection, memories, and special moments that you will cherish forever.

I pray that you each are able to have quality time with your mom to let her know how much she has meant to each of you and to say your goodbyes. As I write tht last sentence, I can’t help but think of you and Michael singing “How To Say Goodbye” at the Ryman back in February. the news of your mom’s condition puts a whole new perspective on that concert memory.

May our the love, mercy and grace of our Heavenly Father comfort you in these next days, weeks, and years.

    Love & Hugs,
    Lori Wiens

I pray that your entire family will rest in the peace and comfort that the Lord has to wrap around you when the time comes. May you be able to celebrate and rejoice even amidst the sorrow and tears, knowing that you will all see her gain on the other side.
