A note from Amy…

(Some of you have emailed with questions about why Vince and Amy recently pulled out of the James Taylor concert at Carnegie Hall schedule for April 20th.  I thought it best you hear directly from Amy….)

My mom is currently under hospice care and living at our home.

We believe she is in her final days.

A good death is made possible because of a life well lived.

I so appreciate this time of family togetherness honoring my amazing mother.

Prayers are welcome…

    This is the ending phrases from a poem “The Parable of the Mother”

    “And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and the years, and the mother grew old, and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong and walked with courage. And when the way was rough they lifted her, for she was as light as a feather;and at last they came to a hill, and beyond the hill they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide.
    And the mother said, “I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know that the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk alone, and their children after them.”
    And the children said, “You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates.”

    God bless you all while you celebrate your mother’s life and await for her to go home.

    I will give you a copy of the entire Parable the next time we meet. It is sweet.

    Amy, my prayers are with you. I’ve experienced hospice and have seen life leave the body. I realized that our bodies are but a shell of the bodies that we will have with our Savior in heaven. Though my heart grieved, my spirit rejoiced at the jubiliation my friend must have been experiencing when she woke up in heaven.

    I understand how you and your family are feeling as my mum past away 4 weeks ago, from many years of severe illness. It was difficult for me to come to process her final days, as I am used to her just waking up.
    Cheekily, I would almost say to listen to Amy Grant Records to help you through this time, I know it strengthened me , to know the lord is with her and (selfishly) me.

Her favorite was from Legacy – ‘it is well with my soul’. I know these times are both sad and yet somehow filled with numerous graces … Our Lord is very close to you and your family in these moments.     My heart and prayers go out to you, your Sisters, and each of your families. I pray that this time with your parents is a sweet, precious time of reflection, memories, and special moments that you will cherish forever.

    I pray that you each are able to have quality time with your mom to let her know how much she has meant to each of you and to say your goodbyes. As I write tht last sentence, I can’t help but think of you and Michael singing “How To Say Goodbye” at the Ryman back in February. the news of your mom’s condition puts a whole new perspective on that concert memory.

    May our the love, mercy and grace of our Heavenly Father comfort you in these next days, weeks, and years.
