I love, love, love this song! It so describes my life last year. I lost my job, spent most of last year searching and not finding a job, being frustrated and depressed much of the time, but trying to enjoy the time off, cuz it’ll be short lived. Knowing the God will put me in the job when it’s right. Then in January it came along! While I was in LA at my nephew’s wedding, I get the call! What a blessing and relief! I truly do appreciate my job more, since I had to work to get it. Not taking the simple things for granted. Thank you, thank you, thank you for recording this with your daughter! The perfect blend of your voices!

I echo everyone’s comments, not only is it true and relevant, but it is musically catchy and sticks in your head. It also serves as a nice counterbalance to some of the heavier songs on the record being sweet and light hearted.

When I first heard this song it was on Doug & Kim when Amy was promoting her album. I was on my way to work at my temporary job. This song really spoke to me because I have been looking for a job since I got laid off from my previous job, it had been close to one year. I think this song kinda reminded me to not give up and just keep doing the best that I can do. I recently finished out the temporary job, and now it’s on to look for a different job. I’m praying that I find one soon, but I know that I need to keep working at it and not give up. Thank you for singing such a beautiful song and it being so special to sing with your daughter.

WOW…how poignant and relevant to my current disposition this song is. You have know idea that you wrote this song for me! A week prior to the release of this album, I resigned from my job and asked all the questions you deliver in the song. How the message hits home. I’m a grad student trying to revel in beauty that is “not knowing” what today or tomorrow holds but trusting that Christ will see His plan to fruition in my life. I’m a big fan of yours here in the Philippines. Though some of our albums had not reached our country, I continue to search for your songs and listen to them online. I came across the song “Overnight” and the lyrics just strucked me. Especially the first stanza..

These really speaks my thoughts and feelings right now. Thank you for these song. It gave me the courage and the strength to move on each day. Your songs had touched me for years. My all time favorite is “Simple Things”. I always listen to this song first thing in the morning. It gives such positivity and makes me feel good and be thankful for my blessings.
