March???

Okay, I don't know about any of you, but for me I feel like I was just taking down my Christmas tree and suddenly, without warning, it is March…. the hint of spring in the air…March madness…St. Patrick's Day…and on those few warm days that sneak in between the cold, the age old question for all women — when can I start to wear open-toed shoes again…followed quickly by the realization that to do so I need a pedicure!  (sorry guys!)

So here we are – March – and I feel like the year has just begun and that our 09 plan for Amy Grant still has plenty of time to take shape and be revealed, yet the calendar is reminding me that time is ticking by faster than any of us would want it to.

I know I continue to "hint" at big announcements…. and for those of you who have ventured a guess on the June 8th date being the concert for "Challenge America" at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C…. you are right.  We will be announcing the line up of guests in the next week and when tickets go on sale but it promises to be an incredible night of music and message.

Another big "FOA" announcement is still pending while we work out a few details, but I can tell you that it is NOT the anticipated "Lead Me On 20th Anniversary" live dvd taping.  As much as we would love to capture that show on film, the numbers don't make sense and so it is something we are going to have to put on the back burner.

So as we roll out the welcome mat for spring my hope for all of us is a renewed sense of passion for life and an appreciation of the passage of time and the changes it brings.  As the saying goes, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven."  May we welcome this season of change with hope in the things to come…

    No LMO DVD taping?? Are you serious?? That was the best tour Amy has done in years! And all of her shows are phenomenal… this one was just moreso. Please tell me an audio recording will still make it’s way out there…

    I think it’s odd the concert didn’t get filmed during the tour. Did the numbers not add up then?
    2 solutions: 1. If anyone wants an essence of the concert, there are several clips on Youtube. 2. Isn’t there footage of the original LMO tour? Release that. Fans would buy it in a heartbeat. Personally, I’d rather have that put on DVD.

    Bummer about the LMO tour DVD. Any chance of a special video download for FOA members? I hope a CD of the live concert will be coming out.
    Hope the recording of Amy’s new CD is going well!

    If I remember correctly, they didn’t feel the video footage of the original tour was of good enough quality to release. Too bad… at this point, I would be happy with a CD of the reunion tour. I would rather have that than a DVD anyway because I listen to music more than watch videos. And the YouTube stuff and the audio clips online are great but there’s just something special about putting in your own CD or DVD whenever you want to to enjoy.
    All right, I’m babbling now and the kids are distracting me so I hope this all made some sense! Lol!

    Dear Jennifer,
    Please tell us that there will be a CD release of the LMO Reunion tour?!
    Allthough a DVD would also be nice off course, I agree with Chad that most people listen to a CD more than that they watch videos.
    The quality of the band an the song arrangements from the Reunion Tour is very high! Can’t wait to listen to it on CD…

AMY GRANT HAD JESUS AND SHOWED ME THRU HER SMILE AND A HUG THAT I WANTED HIM. I EXCEPTED JESUS AT 13 AND PULLED AWAY FOR 27 TO 28 YEARS. I AM BACK AND WANTED TO THANK AMY FOR HER LOVE FOR A 13 YR OLD LITTLE GIRL THAT KEPT ME HOLDING ON. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU.

    I remember that Myrrh/Word and A&M Records didnt pay for the video that was shot – that came out of Amy’s own pocket. Here CCM had one of the MOST successful tours to date and Myrrh nor A&M could get behind that simple equation. Although Myrrh did release the Lead Me On – LIVE cassette tape from the show. New technology was foreign to Myrrh and A&M was just beginning to get behind CD production. So it is hard to say what that was all about and numbers – Amy ranked in the top 10 best grossing tours in 1988! Who couldnt see that a video from that tour wouldn’t sell?! A&R people need to think about what is contractual and what is financially a home run! That ball would have flown out of the park!

    How about a montage of old and new, then put it on the website for all to enjoy. This would seem to promote Amy as an artist who ties together past, present and future.

    Thanks for the info, Alan. I can’t believe Myrrh/A&M dropped the ball on that one. Duh.
    Amy’s concerts were right behind Whitney for female draws. Yes, Amy wasn’t totally ‘mainstream’ yet, but bottom line – tons of people came and would have bought it big time.
    ***I just saw Sparrow is releasing something by Amy April 21st – in a month! Any clue to what this is? Jen??

    Alan – although you have some facts correct about the original LMO tour footage that was filmed, the issue really wasn’t A&M or Myrrh not getting behind it. The issue is that it was not shot well. We pulled it out again to see if we could piece together a few songs to release with the LMO 20th anniversary cd and the truth is that the footage was shot incorrectly and poorly and there is very little that could even be scraped together. Disappointing to both labels at the time… and especially to Amy and management. One of those “wish we had that to do over again” scenarios.

    I don’t understand. If A&M/Myrrh were really behind it, why wouldn’t they pay for a good quality company to do it in the first place? Or are you saying they did pay for it. How could they be disappointed if they didn’t pony up themselves?
    Also, what is the footage on Youtube? Even if the visual wasn’t the best quality and might have gotten some criticism, fans would have still bought it just to have that experience feeling again and listen to the live music.
