New Record

Posted on: October 14th, 2008 by Amy Grant 41 Comments

I think the next record is written.
Hopefully will be in the studio by mid January.
Sure would be nice to try out some of the new material at the end of some of these concerts,,,guess I’ll just see how each night feels.
Suitcase is almost packed.
There’s a lot of music in this world.
Every night the clubs and concert halls in this town are filled with musicians.
Probably that way in every town.
Well, here comes one more hopeful songwriter.

  • Dot Stoll

Can’t wait to see you in Minnesota. I saw you in Sioux City, but am hoping to actually meet ya. Any chance of that? And we would LOVE to hear your new stuff. Bring it on. woohoo!!!!!

  • Roberta

We await that hopeful songwriter with glorious anticipation…Godspeed Amy Grant, your public awaits you once again!!!!
Hugs and prayers for a safe journey there and back!

  • sarah

Please play new songs pretty pretty please! So excited to see you in Irvine.

  • http://www.vanessachristine.blogspot.com Michelle Burrill

You just keep on creating what you’ve been given to create, Amy! Regardless of what everyone else has to create; There’s room for all of it, and only YOU can sing YOUR song! And when you sing your song, the world is blessed by it. Blessings to you!

  • Shanna

Friday in Irvine will be a long awaited and much anticipated night with old friends… the songs that kept me company during nights of college study, while mending a broken heart, or simply in prayer as I contemplated my future.
My date for this concert will be my husband and soulmate for the past 17 years. We will be among the many crazy “kids” that are rocking the house! Over the years, our home has been filled and our children have been raised with the love, faith and passion of your music. Attending your concerts is always a gift, but to take the time to reflect on our history, our journey and the amazing transformation that has become us, it divine.
Can’t wait! Roll on Friday night!
    Shanna

    Amy,
Be safe and have fun on the tour! Are you hitching the bikes to the back of the bus? Can’t wait for the new stuff, I got a sense of your new songs when I was at your two Meridian, Ms shows last year. Wish you were coming closer to Destin with the tour but I’m sure I’ll see ya next year.

Hi Amy, I look forward to hearing your new record! I hate that LMO tour is not coming to my town so I could preview some of this great new music!

  • Parkway_Mom

As fun as it is to revisit the LMO era….and as excited as I am about the LMO tour- I simply can’t wait to see what’s on your heart in the here and now. I’m SO looking forward to news of the new project! :)

  • LAshby

Amy, that is great and exciting news! I look forward to seeing you on 11/21 and hearing some of our old favorites, but also some of the new songs.
    Safe travels!

  • Elsa Terry

    Dear Amy,
I am so excited! I’m finally here in Phoenix with my sister, Susie, who posted that I was traveling from KC for this reunion concert – OUR first concert together in 20+ years! You’re pretty special to us for my husband to let me use his free SW miles to travel!! I have another sister, Rosie, who lives here as well and we’re all coming! So it’s a reunion all the way around!
We were reminiscing with some of your older music last night and found an old cassette tape of a live Age to Age concert my sister secretly recorded (shhhh!!) – leave it to Susie to keep stuff like this … and actually STILL have something to play it on!! :)
Anyway, we were talking about a new concert idea for you to consider(?) … you and MWS singing music you’ve written together over the years. Just piano and guitar – wouldn’t that be so cool??? Kinda fits with his “Reunion” label and all, don’t you think?
Can’t wait to enjoy this special evening! We’ll be singing our hearts out with you from Row 8!
    Love,
    Elsa

I am simply heartbroken! It’s been several years since you have been to St. Louis and I am going to Atlanta to spend time with family for the holidays. You have been a part of my Christmas Holiday for over twenty years! Family is so important so I have to choose them over the concert. So please know that when you finally make it to St. Louis I will be with you in Vince in spirit! I am so excited you are touring again! God be with you, your family and your crew as you tour!

    Amy ~
Can’t wait to hear some new material. Feel free to sing what ever you want on this tour. I love your old stuff but as a songwriter I know how exciting it is to write and record new music. I know you’re not so interested in the pop music scene but I love the sound of “She Colors My Day.” That tone really suits you and your voice. It’s edgy and it allows your silky sound to really shine. A few remixes would be good here and there…maybe you might consider a remix collection? :) Hint…hint..nudge ;-)
No matter what musical path you take – continue to express your heart with complete honesty. Your album “Behind The Eyes” was a great example for me to follow as a teenager. That album spoke for itself in terms of honesty and it is that honesty I’ve been able to carry in my own writing. Thank you. :)
Be safe – you and your crew are in my prayers. Only a week and three days to go! :) Can’t wait to see you!
    Ryan

    Amy,
I just love the fact you’re doing this… just wish you were coming north of the border. I saw you in here in Toronto, 20 years ago with the Lead Me On tour, along with Gary Chapman and Michael W. Smith. It was an amazing concert.
So here we are 20 years later… maybe a few grey hairs (but that’s what colour is for!) and with life experiences that have molded us. Thanks for always staying true and real. I remember my boss being a part of “Backyard BBQ with Amy” a number of years ago and found you to be more down-to-earth and real than the local radio DJs that were hosting the event.
Anyway, hope the tour goes amazing! Definitely wish I could see ya!!!

  • Robert

I will be the first in line to get that new record – I’ve been looking forward to another original material album since Simple Things.
See you in Upper Darby!!! :-)

My husband was a great deep sea fisherman. Unfortunately he died too young (age 40), you wrote this blog on his birthday. He used to go around telling people all his secrets about fishing and I asked him why he did that. He would say “There’s more than enough fish in the sea”. So Amy, there’s more than enough room for all the music that could possibly be made in this world. It just wouldn’t sound quite as wonderful without yours. Can’t wait to hear you!

WELCOME to Phoenix Amy and band!
I am so looking forward to this evening.
We would love to hear some new songs too :)
I have a request for our show here- Doubly Good to You- would love to hear that live.
You are amazing and thanks for sharing your talent with all of us.
    Much love-Justin.

I am anxious to hear a new record from Amy. Please, please… more than 10 songs this time! I want AT LEAST 12!

I posted the widget to my blog and am trying to decide which show to attend. From Milwaukee, I either have to go to Minnesota or Branson! My readers will probably just say “Why are you advertising a show we can’t go to?” Is there a chance of more dates being added? Ticketmaster doesn’t want to accept my credit card info for either show, and I almost want to take that as a sign. . .sigh.

Amy, you have been such a huge inspiration to me. I can’t wait to see you in Portland, Oregon in a couple of weeks!
Wish you and the crew safe travels and showers of blesssings!

    Amy,
I just saw you in Portland Monday night. What a great concert! I have been a fan since the beginning, and I listen to your albums all the time, old and new. This is the 4th time I have seen you in concert, the first being down in Irvine for the Straight Ahead tour, oh so many years ago. What a great trip down memory lane! The band is awesome, you are awesome, and it was great to see you all enjoying the performance as much as I was! It was rockin! The new songs were great and I can’t wait to get that new album. Thanks so much for what you do, for sharing your life and God with us through your great music!

    Dear AMY,
I can’t wait to see you in Brazil!!! It would be wonderful, truly!! I hope this new album brings you here! You would be surprised with the number of people who grew, spiritually and personally, with your music, loving it. I’m just one of them.
    Love,
    Thaís

Yes, but lots and lots of those singer songwriters are doing what we do because of YOU — you truly forged a trail, especially for, but not limited to, Christian women whose desire to have a voice was inspired by you speaking out over the years, through your music, with true eloquence and with honesty and simplicity. If we could all collectively sing you a thank you song, we would be a host a million strong, among the Christian and Non (the Bible would say it among the Jew and Greek!).
However, even though we all have been tempted to emulate you, your style and grace, (bcz you are so cool in every way) thankfully in trying to do that, we finally stumbled upon our own uniqueness, which of course is best for everyone.
All this to say, I know I’m not alone in cheering you on — I’m sure we all agree that there is no one quite like you Amy Grant, singer songwriter extraordinaire, and we truly owe you alot even if you wouldn’t think so! We KNOW so!
Can’t wait for your new record! yay!

Amy, I’m so excited to see you this Friday in Ft. Worth. This will be my 3rd time to see you in concert and I’ve been a fan since we were teens-just yesterday…right? My friend Cary Pierce of JackoPierce arranged for me to go to the meet and greet. I would love to meet you and say “Hi”. Your music quickly became my favorite after I became a Christian when I was 16. Now my seven year old son has been jammin’ to Breath of Heaven. He said to tell you it’s his favorite. God bless you and your family, Susan
